Wells Fargo Customers’ Data Exposed, Used for Fraud in ‘Preventable Hack’, Alleges New Class Action Lawsuit

Wells Fargo is going through a brand new class motion lawsuit over the financial institution’s alleged failure to correctly safe prospects’ personally identifiable data.
The lawsuit, filed by lead plaintiff Tamra Bacon, alleges that Wells Fargo suffered a “preventable hack” that uncovered the information of hundreds of consumers.
Wells Fargo confirmed a breach final month, saying an insider on the financial institution accessed buyer data and used it to commit fraud between Could 2022 and March 2023.
Wells Fargo says the stolen knowledge included names, addresses, dates of start, cellphone numbers, e mail addresses, Social Safety numbers, driver’s license numbers, checking account numbers, credit score/debit card numbers, brokerage account numbers and mortgage/line of credit score numbers.
Bacon says the incident has left her in monetary turmoil.
“The information breach has triggered Plaintiff Tamra to undergo concern, anxiousness and stress, which has been exacerbated by the truth that the Defendant has nonetheless not totally knowledgeable her of key particulars surrounding the truth that the information breach has occurred.
On account of the information breach, plaintiff Tamra expects to proceed to spend vital money and time mitigating and addressing the harm attributable to the information breach.
On account of the information breach, plaintiff Tamra is at present danger and can proceed to be at elevated danger for identification theft and fraud for years to come back.”
Wells Fargo has not publicly commented on the breach, which Bacon mentioned was as a result of lax safety at America’s third-largest financial institution.
